Microbiology

Colonies

Afghanistan presents worldwide the highest rate of antibiotic per head consumption.

Antibiotic resistance of microbes is widely common in Afghanistan. This is due to the uncontrolled use of antibiotics and poor medication quality.

Beside commonly use culturing methods, we are proud to introduce two different culture systems that provide count, identification and susceptibility testing within 24 hours.

This enables physicians to prescribe a quick and potent treatment in just 24 hours after the sample was submitted. Furthermore, the patient will benefit from fewer doses of antibiotics and would recover much faster than with the commonly use culture method which requires at least 3-4 days for the test results.

Rpid culture system

The urine culture system detects the most common urine pathogens like:

Escherichia Coli, Proteus spp., Providencia spp., Citrobacter spp., Pseudomonas spp.,

Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Serratia spp., Enterococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Candida spp.

The antibiotic resistance (susceptibility) testing includes:

Amikacin, Gentamicin, Tobramycin, Piperacillin/Tazobactam, Fosfomycin, Imipenem,

Cefixime, Cefoperazone, Cefotaxime, Ceftazidime, Netilmicin, Ampicillin/Sulbactam,

Tetracycline, Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin, Ofloxacin, Amoxicillin/Clavulanic acid, Co-trimoxazole.

Urine System Chrom

The pathogenic culture system detects the most common pathogenic microorganisms from pharyngeal, cutaneous, auricular and ophthalmic swabs, expectorate, exudates, seminal fluid and other clinical specimens like:

Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A), Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophylus spp, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B), Proteus spp/Providencia spp, Pseudomonas spp, KES Group (Klebsiella spp, Enterobacter spp, Serratia spp), Enterococcus faecalis (Group D), Candida spp .

The antibiotic resistance (susceptibility) testing includes:

Gentamicin, Netilmicin, Azithromycin, Clarithromycin, Amoxicillin / Clavulanic Acid,

Ampicillin / Sulbactam, Piperacillin / Tazobactam, Ceftriaxone, Cefoperazone, Ceftazidime, Cefuroxime, Pefloxacin, Levofloxacin, Ofloxacin, Rifampicin, Meropenem, Co-trimoxazole.
