Malaria & Tuberculosis

Diagnostics

Afghanistan has the world’s third-highest malaria burden. Of the five species malaria parasites, Plasmodium falciparum is the most dangerous.

In Afghanistan, 95% of malaria cases are attributed to Plasmodium falciparum (P.f.) and 5% to Plasmodium vivax (P.v.). Over 76% of Afghans live in at-risk areas.

We are offering the following Malaria tests:

  • Thick & thin blood film

  • HRP 2 / pLDH antigen test

Tuberculosis (TB) continues to be a major public health challenge in Afghanistan.

In the year 2018, 70,000 estimated people developed TB, among them 14,000 children. About 12,000 people die every year on Tuberculosis in Afghanistan.

We are offering the following Tuberculosis diagnostic:

  • M. tuberculosis IgG, IgM, IgA antibodies

  • Tuberculin skin test (Mantoux / PPD) 

  • Sputum smear testing (CDC compliant)

  • PCR - GeneXpert® - MTB/RIF / Screening

  • PCR - GeneXpert® - MTB/RIF Ultra / Follow up treatment
